Hyderabad is the capital of the Andhra Pradesh, or AP, state in India. It is also the fifth largest city in the country. Finding a person there, accordingly, may not be easy, especially given the meager amount of information that the government of India collects about its citizens -- not all Indians even have identification cards. Whether you want to find a new soulmate or are looking for an old friend, taking the steps below will help you in your search.

Step 1

Search for the person's name in the BSNL Hyderabad online telephone directory. To make a search, type the person's name and indicate the city ("Hyderabad"). BSNL is a state-owned telecommunications firm.

Step 2

Use Classmates, an online social network, if your friend has studied at high school in the city. As of January 2011, only two schools were listed, namely St. Anthony's High School and St. Mary's High School. Both had about 500 contacts each.

Step 3

Contact the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry has a fairly current database on people living in India — Hyderabad included. However, the office might not be willing to help unless you are prepared to pay for the service. The contact details are below.

Ministry of Home Affairs, North Block Central Secretariat New Delhi - 110 001 Phone: 23092011, 23092161 Fax: 23093750, 23092763

Step 4

Find a new friend in the city by using Viva Street, iTimes and Locanto services. Browse through the profiles of people looking for friends or a relationship. While Locanto and Viva Street provide contact details with the profiles, you need to register at iTimes in order to get in touch with the person whose profile you find interesting.
