Easy Cat Eye: The Feline Flick Trick

Luke Wooden

To master the elusive cat eye, we asked makeup artist Mynxii White for advice on how to achieve perfectly winged liner every time. With these simple tips, you'll never again have to sacrifice half a bottle of liquid liner and a handful of Q-tips to channel your inner Alexa Chung.

The Bottom Line

The key is to create the bottom line first. Determine the angle by imagining a line that extends from the corner of your eye to the end of your brow. Extend the liner along this imaginary line until you reach the crease of your eyelid.

Thicken It Up

Beginning at the outer corner of your eye, trace directly above the line you just created. Be sure to keep the liner thickest at the base and thinnest at the tip to achieve the ideal wing.

Finish the Feline Flick

Once you've achieved the desired thickness, you're ready to fill in the rest of your lash line.

Complete the Line

Sweep the liner across your lash line beginning at the inner corner of your eye, gradually lifting the line upward to meet the wing.
