Gourmet Burger Kitchen, or GBK, was founded in London in 2001 by three New Zealanders – commonly referred to as “Kiwis.” The three men used their New Zealand heritage to create the kiwiburger, which includes beetroot, pineapple and a fried egg. Gourmet Burger Kitchen also has several other menu options, each with its own nutritional information.

While the kiwiburger is the main focus on the Gourmet Burger Kitchen’s menu, there are several other types of burgers along with chicken sandwiches and vegetarian items. Popular burger choices include the classic, Jamaican, Mexican and BBQ. Chicken choices include a chicken breast with avocado and bacon. Specialty items include chorizo burgers, Greek lamb burgers and mint lamb burgers

Every Gourmet Burger Kitchen burger except the specialty burgers starts with 100 percent Aberdeen Angus grass-fed beef on a freshly baked sourdough bun. Most burger choices include salad, mayo and relish along with specialty cheeses and sauces made from scratch daily

According to Nick Wyke from “The Times,” the word “gourmet” doesn’t reduce the overall caloric content of the gourmet burgers at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. For example, one cheeseburger from the Gourmet Burger Kitchen contains 805 calories, nearly 55 grams of fat and 37 grams of carbohydrates.

When ordering at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen, you have the option of choosing the ingredients on the burger. Charlotte Martin from The Sun website recommends ordering a plain burger with lots of salad to reduce the amount of fat and calories. You also can remove the creamy sauces and mayo to eliminate additional fat, carbohydrates and calories.

Some of the menu choices at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen might contain possible food allergens such as nuts or nut oils. Ask for menu recommendations before ordering if you have nut allergies. Also, Gourmet Burger Kitchen warns against consuming raw hamburger and cooks every burger to medium doneness unless you request otherwise.
