While the "Burt Reynolds sweater" look was popular back in the 70s and 80s, many modern-day women tend to find hairless bodies more attractive, much to the chagrin of our Chewbacca-like brethren. But fear not oh furry ones, for there are many ways to tame the beast that is your body hair, and waxing happens to be one of the cheapest, and most effective, methods on the market today.
The first step in preparing your body to have the hair follicles ripped from their roots is making sure the skin is nice and clean. Cleaning your skin with a gentle astringent will reduce the chances of pimples forming after you wax, and will also remove any dirt or grease, giving the wax a smooth, clean surface to adhere to and, thus, giving it a better grip on your hair.
Choosing the right wax is the next step in the process. There are two main types of waxing: hot waxing and cold waxing. Hot wax is spread on the hair and then ripped off after it has cooled and hardened. Cold wax comes on prepackaged strips that are warmed between the hands, applied to the hair, and then ripped out. Cold wax is usually used to remove smaller areas of hair, like on the face or waist line. Check a wax product's ingredients before applying in case you have any allergies.
After you have endured the body-waxing experience, its time to clean all of the excess wax residue from your skin, further preventing the appearance of pimples and preventing your shirt or pants from sticking to your body. Try using a stronger astringent to help clean out your pores and remove the wax, followed by an Aloe Vera gel or similar burn relief to alleviate the pain on your skin and keep your skin moisturized.
