How to Brighten Skin Complexion

As life gets busy and you power through late nights and cold winters, the underlying stresses can start to show up on your skin. Your complexion can become dull due to stress, dry weather and lack of nutrients. Since not everyone has time to book a weekly spa session, it can be easy to throw on an extra layer of makeup instead. If not cleansed and hydrated regularly, skin can become more lackluster and irritated in the long run. Take a few minutes every morning and night for a nourishing skincare routine that will instantly brighten your complexion.

Wet your skin with tepid water. Tepid water is the least irritating on skin and will not cause hyper-pigmentation.

Work a dime-size amount of gentle creamy cleanser into your skin using a circular motion and rinse again with tepid water. This will remove impurities without drying out your skin. Cleanse morning and night.

Pick up a quarter-size amount of exfoliant with your fingers and massage it into your skin using a circular motion, before rinsing with warm water. Opt for an exfoliant containing alpha-hydroxy and glycolic acids to slough away all dead skin cells and create an even tone. Exfoliate only twice a week to avoid drying out your skin.

Apply a dime-size amount of serum containing vitamin C into your skin. Vitamin C is a natural skin lightener, and lends a glow to your skin.

Massage a creamy moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid into your skin. Hyaluronic acid attracts water, helping the skin retain moisture for a more hydrated appearance.

Apply SPF cream to your face to protect your skin from discoloration and skin damage. Opt for a broad-spectrum SPF cream formulated for the face, with a minimum SPF of 15 in the winter and 30 in the summer. Apply only in the morning before putting on your makeup.
