Ways to Make Skin Lighter Naturally

There are some simple, easy remedies to lighten skin naturally. It is important to note when working to lighten skin, it does not happen overnight whether the remedy is natural or not. Applying one or more remedies consistently each day will help to realize faster results. Make sure to consult your physician before trying any skin lightening methods.


Soak four almonds overnight and grind into a fine paste with milk. Apply the paste on the skin before you go to sleep and leave the paste on overnight. Home Remedies recommends doing this daily for 15 days, and then reduce to once a week after that. You can also use almond oil in a mask with other skin lighteners by mixing 1/2 tsp. almond oil with 1 tsp. each of milk powder, honey and lemon juice, and then leave the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes.


Lemon is a natural bleaching agent often used to lighten individual dark spots on the skin and can be used to lighten the skin overall. It can be used on its own applied twice daily or in a mask. Mix sandalwood powder and equal parts of lemon, tomato and cucumber juice to make a paste. Apply the paste onto the skin and leave on until it is dried. Scrub off once dried.


Potatoes are another natural bleaching agent. You can apply slices of potato to the skin, potato juices or a mask containing potato. To obtain the juices, puree a potato and pore the puree into a muslin cloth. Wrap the puree up and squeeze it to release the juices into a bowl. Apply the juice directly to the skin. You can also mix the potato juice in equal parts with lemon juice. Leave the mixture on for 15 minutes and then rinse.


Another natural treatment for dark skin is the application of an orange and curd mask. Dry orange peels completely, then grind them into a paste with curd. Apply the paste to the skin and leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse.
