This Is Why You Should Get a Facial Like Chris Pratt

When it comes to fancy skin care treatments, women shouldn’t get to have all the fun. Just ask Chris Pratt, who recently gave his fans a glimpse into his facial pampering session in a hilarious video posted to his Instagram account.

With patches under his eyes and a gel-like mask covering his face, the 38-year-old looked completely relaxed as his longtime hair-and-makeup person Bridget Brager gave him an invigorating facial massage. Can we say “jealous”?

“In the spirit of Christmas, it’s important to know how much better it feels to give than to receive,” he joked. “So I want to say to Bridget Brager, my longtime hair and makeup princess, Queen Brager, you’re welcome for this opportunity to give me this amazing facial massage with the creepy plastic mask on.” She laughed because, duh, Chris Pratt is hilarious. He added: “I’m like a little Christmas Hannibal Lector.”

As Pratt spread his holiday wisdom, Brager gently massaged over the plastic mask around his face. Considering he didn’t open his eyes once, we have to assume he was deep in face-massage bliss.

While women are historically more likely to indulge in spa treatments like facials, more men than ever are going in for some much-needed pampering sessions. According to recent data from the International Spa Association (ISPA), the proportion of men hitting spas has increased from 31 percent to 47 percent over the past decade. The reason? The same reason everyone goes: to manage stress, says Lynne McNees, president of the ISPA.

“I think that guys are becoming a little more comfortable with taking care of themselves and realizing that beauty and taking care of things such as aging in the future isn’t such a feminine thing,” Jose Girona, manager of Living Fresh Spa in New York City, told Mashable.

In addition to the relaxation benefits of getting a facial, which Chris Pratt so clearly demonstrates in his video, skin care treatments can also improve the look and feel of your skin.

Dirt and bacteria accumulate on your skin, eventually causing those unsightly blackheads and whiteheads. But exfoliation will remove the outermost layer, usually consisting of dead skin cells as well as the aforementioned bacteria and debris.

This speeds up your skin’s renewal process, allowing healthier skin cells to replace them. It’ll also make your skin ready to absorb any anti-aging, hydrating and collagen-boosting products your skin care guru applies to your skin.

Long-term benefits can include the reduction of fine lines, brightening of your skin tone and overall plumping. Another bonus? With a fresh, exfoliated face you are guaranteed to get a closer shave.

In addition to face masks, other skin care treatments that are great for men include microdermabrasion, phototherapy, microneedling and lasers.

This isn’t the first time Pratt has talked about issues previously considered “only for ladies.” Earlier this year he spoke out about being body-shamed. The “Jurassic Park” star had been sharing videos about healthy snacks he was eating to fuel his intense workouts when some internet trolls accused him of looking too skinny. His response was totally epic.

“So many people have said I look too thin in my recent episodes of #WHATSMYSNACK,” the actor wrote on Instagram. “Some have gone as far as to say I look ‘skeletal.’ Well, just because I am a male doesn’t mean I’m impervious to your whispers. Body shaming hurts.”

To add his trademark Pratt touch, he chose a fitting photo of a dinosaur skull to accompany his body-confident message. “To prove my security in the way I look I’m posting a current selfie of me at what I consider a very healthy weight. 500 lbs. Zero percent body fat. Totally JK guys. This is a T Rex skull. Nailed you so bad. Omg.”

Thank you, Chris, for reminding us that men and women might not have such different needs after all.
