How would you like to lick Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie off your lips all day long? The Vermont-based company has moved into the beauty space with ice cream-flavored lip balm, so you can now enjoy your favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavor without counting calories or breaking open a pint.
The tiny tubs of lip balm come in four flavors including Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Mint Chocolate Cookie, Strawberry Kiwi Swirl and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The packaging is designed to look like miniature pints of ice cream, and the actual balm features natural ingredients like organic extra virgin olive oil, hemp seed and jojoba.
But will these delicious lip balms cure your hankering for actual ice cream? The staff at the Los Angeles Times recently tried out different lip glosses to see if they could help control late-night sugar cravings. “It’s a plausible technique,” Los Angeles dermatologist Dr. Susan Rabizadeh told the Times. Rabizadeh went on to explain that “the thin skin of the lips allows small quantities of product to be absorbed into the bloodstream.”
Krista Jones, Ben & Jerry’s gift program and retail store manager, tells LIVESTRONG.COM that she doubts Ben & Jerry’s lip gloss will stop your cravings for sweet, creamy ice cream. “I think the most you will end up with is an empty container [of lip balm] and an itch for an actual cone,” says Jones.
Can we expect Half Baked shampoo and Phish Food conditioner in the near future? Jones says that the company has “looked at other opportunities in the body care area,” but nothing else has piqued their interest. Jones did mention that Ben & Jerry’s is open to creating other flavors of lip balm (we’re personally praying for Cherry Garcia).
A pot of Ben & Jerry’s lip balm will set you back $4 and can be ordered by phone from the company’s site.
