According to a 2014 salary survey conducted by the Luxury Yacht Group, entry-level cooks earn pay ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 per month. With experience, cooks can advance to the position of sous chef, which typically carries a salary range of between $3,500 and $6,000 a month. Depending on experience and the size of the vessel on which they work, senior chefs can expect monthly salaries ranging anywhere from $4,500 to $12,000.
The Luxury Yacht Group reports that entry-level stewards and stewardesses can expect to make between $2,500 and $3,500 per month, while those with one or more years of experience can make up to $5,000 a month. Chief stewards and stewardesses report monthly salaries ranging from $3,000 to $9,000 a month, depending on the size of the yacht they work on. A purser, who handles the financials, typically makes between $6,000 and $9,000 per month.
Engine Room Salaries
Entry-level engineers working in the engine room can expect monthly salaries ranging from $3,000 to $4,500, according to a 2014 salary survey conducted by the Luxury Yacht Group. With several years of experience, junior engineers can move up to second engineer, a position that typically commands a monthly salary of between $6,000 and $9,000. Chief engineers, who usually have a minimum of five years of engineering experience, report salaries ranging from $6,000 to $14,000 per month.
The deck crew makes sure that everything above deck is clean and well maintained. Entry-level deckhands typically make between $2,000 and $2,500 per month, while experienced deckhands can make up to $4,000 per month. Bosuns, or boatswains, who oversee a yacht's equipment and crew, report monthly salaries ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 per month. Officers can make between $5,000 and $10,000 a month, while captains -- the highest paid of all yacht personnel -- report salaries ranging from $4,000 to $20,000 per month.
