What to Wear on a Sunday Date

by Jennifer Blair, studioD

Dressing for a date can be a little stressful. When you have a date on a Sunday, it can get even trickier as Sunday get-togethers are decidedly more casual than the typical Friday dinner date. The trick is finding a look that's appropriate while still maintaining a feminine and flirty vibe.

Outdoor Casual

For an outdoor date, aim for a casual, comfortable look with feminine touches. If you’re headed to the park for a picnic, wear a pair of tailored shorts with a silk top and flat gladiator sandals. Add a tote bag for carrying your picnic goodies and floppy hat to protect yourself from the sun. For an afternoon hike, your clothes should practical but still cute -- fitted yoga pants or running shorts can work well. Pair with a colorful T-shirt, hiking boots or sneakers and a fitted jacket.

Game Day Style

If your date involves watching the big game at a sports bar or pub, leave the jersey at home. Instead, wear your favorite dark wash jeans with a pair of ballet flats or knee-high riding boots. Add a fitted V-neck sweater and a leather jacket to keep the look casual but sexy. If it’s particularly cold, loop a patterned scarf around your neck to spice up your outfit.

Dressed Up Brunch

A brunch calls for a polished, flirty look. In the summer, a sundress in a soft shade like rose, peach, aqua or mint or even a floral print is a good option. Pair with wedge sandals and a delicate pendant necklace. In cooler weather, try a maxi dress with leather boots and a cropped cardigan or a corduroy pencil skirt with a scoop neck sweater, textured tights and knee-high boots.

Sexy Evening Attire

If you’re meeting your date for drinks on Sunday evening, try a more traditional date outfit. Opt for a pair of dark wash jeans with a fitted blazer in a dark color like black, charcoal or navy. Pair them with a lacy camisole or a beaded tank top and a pair of peep-toe pumps. If you want a more dressed up look, go with a sexy wrap dress and a bold statement necklace. Wear the dress with knee-high heeled boots and a leather jacket to give it an edgier feel.
