How to Unlock Hidden Numbers on a Mobile Phone

Cell-phone companies have devised a method to make sure you don't use your phone with another service provider. The way the company does this is by locking the phone. When the phone is locked, it is impossible to use. Don't try changing the phone's SIM card; your phone will remain locked. The good news is there are things that you can do to unlock your phone.

Using an Outside IEMI Phone Unlocking Company

Locate your phone's IMEI number. The IMEI number is a number that allows the Global System for Mobile Communication to recognize your phone when you make or receive a call, and relays the information to your service provider. Your IMEI number should be printed on the label that is underneath your cell phone's battery. The IMEI number is either 15 or 17 digits long.

Select am IEMI Phone unlocking company. There are several online companies that will unlock your phone, including Mobile2Mobile.net, Cell Corner and GSM Liberty. Make sure the company you choose has unlocking codes for your service provider and the brand of your phone.

Follow the instructions. Before they can unlock your phone, you will need to provide the company with your email address and the make, model and IEM number of your cell phone. They will also ask you to name your current cell-phone provider. Once the wireless unlocking company has this information, they will be ready to unlock your cell phone

Pay the company. Depending on the company you use, the cost of unlocking your cell phone can be between $2 and $35. Most companies can be paid via credit card or through PayPal. Remember that unlocking your cell phone increases its resale value, because it can be reprogrammed to work with any service provider.

Be patient. Unlocking your phone can take up to 48 hours. When the process is complete, you will be free to sell the phone, change service providers or make international calls.
