From water parks to museums, the Chicago suburb of Orland Park and the surrounding area features many fun things tailored for your toddler. Toddlers are full of energy and parents have many different options to let their child run, jump, splash and play. There’s plenty to do with tots outdoors during the warm summer months, as well as indoor play during the wintertime.
Oak Lawn Children’s Museum is 10 miles from Orland Park and features a variety of kid-friendly exhibits. Children can use their imaginations at the Dream a Dream Theater or get creative in the Art Studio. Other exhibits include a child-friendly market, a large tree house, a video chat exhibit, a make-believe animal shelter, a construction and building zone and many other hands-on learning exhibits. Less than 15 minutes from Orland Park is KidsWork Children’s Museum in Frankfort. Here, kids can play with the sensory table to develop skills like counting, sorting and matching, play Picasso in the art studio, put on a puppet show in the puppet theater or play veterinarian at the pretend vet exhibit. The museum also features a tabletop interactive computer with games and puzzles, as well as a Tot Spot designated for infants and toddlers.
In the heart of Orland Park is Centennial Park Aquatic Center. Operated by the Village of Orland Park Recreation and Parks Department, this 192-acre park features a kiddie play area, slides, a lazy river and a zero-depth pool. Cypress Cover Family Aquatic Park is in Woodridge, less than 30 minutes from Orland Park. Tots can play in the sand, splash on the spray playground or swim with Mom and Dad in the zero-depth entry pool. There is also a lazy river and water slides, as well as a picnic area and concession stand. Joliet Splash Station Water Park is 25 minutes away and fun for kids of all ages. This railroad-themed water park features a zero-depth pool with over 250,000 gallons of water, as well as a lazy river, sandy play area and water slides.
Indoor Inflatable Play Areas
Pump it Up in Orland Park will provide tots with hours of fun. With large inflatable slides, obstacle courses and bounce houses, toddlers will have a blast jumping around and exploring the play structures. Jump! Zone is located in Chicago Ridge, less than 20 minutes from Orland Park, and is filled with wall-to-wall inflatables. Themed inflatables like the Dora the Explorer bounce house and Lil’ Pirate Ship will keep your toddler busy for hours. There is also a designated play area for children ages 1 to 3. Jump N’ Jam Playland is in Matteson, also less than 20 minutes away. This indoor play facility features games, inflatable obstacle courses, slides and bounce houses that will entertain children of all ages.
The Village of Orland Park Illinois Recreation and Parks Department operates dozens of parks throughout the city. Deer Points Estates Park has five slides, a jungle gym, a play area designated for small children, spring ride-on toys and baby swings. Discovery Park features crane diggers, a sandy play area, baby swings and four slides. Equestrian Park has spring ride-on toys, baby swings and two slides, and Grasslands Park has six slides, crane diggers, large dinosaur crawl-on toys, a sandy play area and baby swings. In addition, several other parks throughout Orland Park that have play areas suitable for toddlers.
