Things to Do With Kids Near Lady Lake, Florida

Lady Lake, Florida is a small town about 50 miles from Orlando. It is surrounded by many other little towns and outdoor recreational areas. You will be able to find plenty to do with the kids without having to drive all the way to Orlando. Visitors and residents alike will enjoy much to do in this little area of central Florida.

Adventure

Headquartered 27 miles from Lady Lake in Eustis, Central Florida Nature Adventures (kayakcentralflorida.com) will provide you and the kids with an exciting kayaking trip down one of central Florida's many rivers. St. John's River and the Rock Springs Run are tours with no experience needed. Fish and birds are bountiful along the trip. Twenty-three miles from Lady Lake in Lake Panasoffkee is Tom and Jerry's Airboat Tours (airboattoursorlando.com). It offers thrilling airboat rides along scenic river systems around the lake. Kids can have fun feeding the fish off the pier before departure.

Museums

The Lady Lake Historical Society Museum (ladylake.org/home/historical-museum) is a great spot for you and the kids to learn about the history of Lady Lake. Information about the Seminole Indians, the history of the log cabin and the town's train depot await at this interesting site. The Grand Oaks Resort (thegrandoaks.com) in Weirsdale, which is just four miles from Lady Lake, has a Carriage Museum. Over 160 vintage carriages and equine treasures are there to see. Kids would be intrigued by the horse and buggy concept and might even picture Cinderella in one of them.

Games and Sports

The Villages Bowling (thevillagesbowling.com) has two different bowling centers in Lady Lake. Fiesta Bowl and Spanish Springs Lanes both offer quality bowling with snack bars and live entertainment including karaoke. Just 2 miles from Lady Lake in Fruitland Park you will find The "Original" Speedway Park (originalspeedwaypark.com). You and the kids can enjoy watching go-kart and dirt bike races on this dirt track. Easy Street Family Fun Center (funworks.com/easystreet) is a 25 mile trip to Ocala, and offers batting cages, go-karts, miniature golf, arcade games and fun water games.

National Parks

Silver River State Park (floridastateparks.org/silverriver) is 23 miles from Lady Lake near Silver Springs. It has numerous hiking trails, rivers for canoeing and fishing, picnic pavilions, a playground and overnight camping facilities. Home to the state's largest living oak tree and only 5 miles from Lady Lake in Fruitland Park, is Lake Griffin State Park (floridastateparks.org/lakegriffin). Viewing the tree requires a short hike, and the park also features fishing, canoeing, kayaking and camping.
