Nestled in the Ozark Mountains, Branson, Missouri, is a popular family vacation spot. A single live music show by the Baldknobbers Jamboree in 1959 was the just the start of what would make Branson known as the Live Music Show Capital of the World. This thriving city with a small town feel is packed full of exciting activities for your kids to enjoy.
Check out Branson's Wild World (bransonswildworld.com) with your kids. Enjoy attractions such as the Animal Adventure, where you'll meet an assortment of sea life in the interactive aquarium, or Wolf Woods with a pack of wolf puppies that were raised and bottle-fed there. Other animals you'll see include sea turtles, alligators, snakes, spiders and New Guinea singing dogs. Or, you could stop by the National Tiger Sanctuary (nationaltigersanctuary.org) to take a tour. One of the best tiger sanctuaries in the country, this facility is home to about 18 exotic animals, including Bengal tigers, Siberian tigers, African lions and hybrid tigers.
Looking for a kid-friendly show in Branson? Amazing Pets at the Grand Country Music Hall (grandcountry.com/amazing-pets) will keep your kids on the edge of their seats. The show features an array of furry, four-legged rescue animals and exotic birds that put on a silly and magical show. You can also catch dinner and a show at Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede (dixiestampede.com). Your show will include friendly competitions, special effects, stunt horseback riding and spectacular music. While enjoying the show, your family will feast on a four-course meal with items like pork loin, chicken, soups, corn on the cob, homemade biscuits and dessert.
Plan a visit to some of the museums in Branson with your children. At Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium, you'll find a replica of a two-headed calf, shrunken heads, a 30-foot stretch limo from Hollywood movies and a gallery of illusions. Head over to Titanic (titanicbranson.com), the world's largest museum attraction, to experience what it was like to step aboard the Titanic. You'll see exhibits such as the Children's Stories Gallery and the Captain's Bridge and learn all about what life was like on the ship. Interactive children's displays also are available such as learning about how to send an SOS signal.
Take your kids to ride go-karts and bumper boats at one of the Track Family Fun Parks (bransontracks.com) locations. Choose from some of the larger tracks for your big kids and the rookie or kiddie track for your little ones. In addition to go-karts and bumper boats, your family can enjoy carnival rides, play laser tag or mini golf and try your luck in the arcade. Visit Silver Dollar City (silverdollarcity.com) for a full day of family fun. You can ride an assortment of rides such as roller coasters and water rides or step into Grandfather's Mansion, where you'll find mirrored walls and slanted floors that will make you feel like your world is upside down. Festivals such as World Fest and the National KidsFest also occur at this amusement park throughout the year.
