The "Queen Wheat City" offers a variety of family-friendly activities. Whether Enid is your final destination or you’re just passing through, it’s worth spending a couple hours here experiencing all that this vibrant Heartland city has to offer.

Museums

Explore America's vibrant railroading history at the Railroad Museum of Oklahoma.

Enid is home to Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse (leonardos.org), a hands-on arts and sciences museum that features exotic animals, a kids’ art studio, an Air Force jet, a dinosaur dig, a renaissance marketplace, racing ball tracks, a science center, a space shuttle, a pottery lab and a dress-up area. As if that weren’t enough to keep your kids occupied all day, Adventure Quest, the world’s largest community-built outdoor science playground, features a three-story wooden castle with bridges, slides and swings. For the Thomas the Tank Engine fan in your brood, Enid has the Railroad Museum of Oklahoma (railroadmuseumofoklahoma.org). Founded to preserve and present the history of American railroading, The Railroad Museum offers an authentic rail yard containing a collection of rolling stock, dining car china and silverware, a collection of bells, lights, whistles and lanterns, and even operating HO and N-gauge model railroads.

Arts and Culture

Spark your children's passion for drama with the Gaslight Theatre.

Enid’s Gaslight Theatre (gaslighttheatre.org) caters to the younger patrons of the arts in town. In addition to four regular productions, each season includes a teen show, children’s theater, a summer musical and Shakespeare in the Park, all of which please the 8-and-up crowd. With shows like "Aladdin" and "Robin Hood," this family-friendly venue is a great way to introduce children to the arts. For wannabe cowboys, Enid offers Simpson’s Old Time Museum & Movie Studio (skeletoncreekproductions.com), where many of the most famous westerns were filmed by Skeleton Creek productions. The museum allows you to step back in time into the days of the Old West, offering authentic western replicas, "Hopalong Cassidy" memorabilia and a range of old-time weaponry. You can also tour the old movie set, complete with an 1800s saloon, hotel room and old jail.
