How to Remove Glitter & Glue From Your Eyelids

by Kimbry Parker, studioD

Sticking on false eyelashes and glittery eye shadow spruces up your look, but the removal can be a pain once the night is over. You might have leftover eyelash glue stuck to your eyelids or stubborn glitter specks that seem like they’ll be a permanent fixture on your face. Don’t start picking and scrubbing to try to get the glitter and glue off. Instead, be patient and use the right products to undo your glammed-up look and get your face completely clean.

Removing the Glue

Moisten a cotton swab with baby oil. Saturate the glue residue on your eyelids with the baby oil.

Leave the baby oil on your eyelids for at least one minute. Wipe the area with a soft cloth to remove the glue. Repeat as necessary until all of the glue is gone.

Rinse your eyelids well with warm water and a soft cloth to remove the baby oil and any glue residue. Pat your lids with a clean cloth to dry.

Nixing the Glitter

Start with dry eyelids. If you’ve just washed your face or tried to remove the glitter with water, pat your eyelids with a dry cloth to remove any moisture.

Wrap a piece of adhesive tape around your finger so the sticky side is facing outward.

Pat the glittery areas of your eyelids very gently with the tape. Replace the tape as it becomes filled with glitter. Repeat this process until all of the glitter is gone.

Rinse your eyelids with warm water and a soft cloth, and then pat dry.
