Remedies for Stinky Ugg Boots

Ugg boots are soft sheepskin-lined boots designed for casual wear. The sheepskin lining can cause the feet to sweat more than usual, especially if the person is walking around in the boots. This can lead to a very unpleasant smell from the Ugg boots. Although this is a problem for all footwear, the natural warmth created by the fleece exacerbates the problem with Uggs. However, there are remedies you can try to remove the stink from Ugg boots.

Insoles

The insoles of shoes absorb a large amount of the sweat from feet. On a regular basis the insoles should be removed, wiped over with a damp cloth and left to dry naturally. Insoles will last a long time, but should be cleaned regularly to prevent the buildup of bad odors.

Cleaning

Mix together equal amounts of distilled water and vinegar and soak a sponge in it. Starting from the bottom of the sheepskin, scrub the inside of the shoe. The sponge should be wrung out on a regular basis and have additional cleaning mixture applied to it. Once the cleaning is complete use a sponge and just distilled water on the sheepskin to remove the vinegar smell.

Odor Prevention

Combine equal amounts of baking soda and corn flour and sprinkle inside the boots. A tablespoon of each will be enough for one boot. Leave the mix in the boots overnight and pour out the excess powder.

Washing Machines

Never put Ugg boots in the washing machine. This works with sneakers, but will ruin the sheepskin lining of Ugg boots. Regular airing of your Ugg boots outdoors is the best way to stop nasty smells building up.
