Places to Have a Child's Birthday Party in Middle Tennessee

by Kristie Farnham, studioD

A birthday is a momentous occasion for a child, especially if there is a party involved. If your child has a birthday right around the corner, consider making things easy for yourself by letting a local venue host the party. There are many establishments in middle Tennessee that provide entertaining birthday party options.

Located in Murfreesboro, The Discovery Center is a museum and nature center that provides hands-on educational displays geared toward children between the ages of 3 and 12. Celebration options include a basic Discovery Party, a themed Adventure Party and a Super Sleepover Party. All parties include unlimited museum exploration time and a special T-shirt for the guest of honor. The basic Discovery Party option accommodates up to 16 guests and allows you one hour in a private room. An Adventure Party includes 45 minutes in the Adventure Room, 30 guided minutes of themed exploration, tableware and lemonade. Choose from eight different themes, including “Animal Safari,” “Super Science” and “Tea Party.” A Super Sleepover Party is a themed party with a twist -- you get to spend the night in the museum with up to 20 guests. Sleepover parties are recommended for children between 8 and 12. The Adventure Science Center in Nashville houses hands-on, experiential science exhibits as well as a planetarium. Party packages are available for preschool-age children and older and accommodate up to 20 guests. Parties include unlimited museum access, two hours in the party room, a guided educational activity and a take-home activity for each guest. You can take your own cake, non-alcoholic beverages, tableware and decorations, and snacks and boxed lunches are available for purchase onsite.

Animal Venues

Choose from three specialized party packages at the Nashville Zoo. A Zooper Party accommodates 10 to 20 guests and includes invitations, zoo admission, use of a private party room, an animal appearance, a safari Adventure Guide, a personalized cake, tableware and goodie bags. A Zoo-it-Yourself Party is recommended for children 12 and under and accommodates an unlimited number of people, but a minimum of 10 guests is required. The ZIY includes zoo admission, one carousel ride or an opportunity to feed the lorikeets, a gift for the guest of honor, a souvenir for each guest, activity sheets and discount coupons for the gift shop. A Jungle Gym party provides you and your guests with private access to the Jungle Gym area after the zoo is closed. Jungle Gym parties begin at 6 p.m. and last until 8 p.m., or until it becomes dark outside. You are welcome to take your own food and non-alcoholic beverages into the zoo, and snacks and pizza are available as party add-ons. The Aquarium Restaurant of Nashville features a 200-gallon saltwater tank and hosts birthday parties for children 12 and under. Bottom of the Sea parties include invitations, a meal for each guest -- including unlimited beverages and sundaes for dessert -- and a special appearance from Sharkey, the restaurant mascot. Guests also get to take home a souvenir cup and plate, and the birthday child receives a bouquet of balloons and a framed group picture. You also have the option to add a 20- or 60-minute, behind-the-scenes, guided tour of the aquarium.

Inflatable Play Centers

Monkey Joe's in Brentwood offers bounce structures, inflatable slides and obstacle courses for children under 12. Party packages are available for up to 24 guests and include invitations, two hours in a private area, tableware, beverages and a special souvenir for the guest of honor. A party host is also provided to handle all of the setup and cleanup. You can take your own cake and have the option to purchase pizza, ice cream, balloons and goody bags as party add-ons. Located in Hendersonville, Hippity Hop Inflatable Play Center caters to children of all ages. Party packages for up to 24 children include invitations, 45 minutes in a party room, 75 minutes of private playtime, tableware, balloons, pizza and beverages. A party host ensures that everything runs smoothly, and a special gift is given to the birthday child. Cake must be purchased off-site, but there are other party add-ons to choose from, such as ice cream, hoagie sandwiches and veggie and fruit platters.

Bowling Alleys

Nashville’s AMF Pla Mor Lanes allows you to book your child’s birthday party online with ease. Choose the type of food, beverages, decorations and add-ons you want, and let them put it all together for you. Parties require a minimum of eight guests, and there is no maximum. For extra-added convenience, the AMF site even features an Evite tool for creating email invitations. Smyrna Bowling Center offers three birthday party packages that can accommodate as many guests as you’d like or as few as five. All packages include invitations, shoe rental, two hours of bowling, tableware, balloons, one beverage per guest, four free bowling coupons per guest, a special bowling pin for the guest of honor and a party host. Upgraded packages include items such as a deluxe balloon bouquet for the birthday child, unlimited beverages, food options, credits for use in the arcade area and a private tour of the center.
