Melbourne, Florida is about 60 miles southeast of Orlando and is just off the state's eastern shore. Residents have access to the beach and major attractions such as theme parks like Disney World. However, parents who are looking to celebrate a birthday party for their children don't have to travel outside the city to find a variety of fun activities. Melbourne has numerous venues that offer birthday party options for kids of all ages.

Outdoor Activities

Nature lovers will enjoy a birthday party at the Brevard Zoo, where they can learn about the animals of the African plains, the Australian outback, or the Florida wetlands. Several themed birthday party packages are available, including a manatee theme in the zoo's lagoon landing and a fossil theme in the cave room. The zoo also offers night-time parties and overnight visits. The zoo sponsors Treetop Trek and is located on the same property, but it is a separate attraction that offers an option for kids' birthday parties. At Treetop Trek, you can zipline through the trees, walk a tight rope, or explore through nets and rope bridges. Party packages include access to a special kids area, a space for picnics, and a free T-shirt for the birthday guest of honor.

Water Fun

Besides the beach, several opportunities exist for having fun in the water in Melbourne. The Noble Park Aquatic Centre features Melbourne's largest water slide, as well as a splash park and an indoor heated pool. Catered and non-catered birthday party options are available. At the Sebastian Inlet State Park, you can enjoy surfing, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities and water sports. Though the park doesn't offer specific birthday packages, you can easily pack a picnic lunch, invite a few friends and make your own party.

Sports and Recreation

Athletic kids have a number of options in Melbourne to celebrate their birthdays. At On the Edge Rock Climbing, kids ages 6 and over can climb one of several courses to suit their skill level in over 10,000 square feet of space. Birthday parties include climbing time, gear rental, staff guides, and a private party room. At Brunswick Zone, kids can play a few rounds of bowling with their friends while they enjoy pizza and video games. Party packages include lane time, refreshments and extra goodies, depending on what package you select.

Game Centers

Game centers offer fun activities for kids of all ages. At Pump It Up, younger children can enjoy jumping and climbing on inflatable play structures, including slides and obstacle courses. You can customize birthday parties to meet your needs. Parties include open play on the inflatables play structures. Older kids may prefer the Andretti Thrill Park, which includes go karts, mini golf, laser tag, mini bowling, arcade games and a ropes course. The venue offers a variety of packages for birthday parties, some of which may include unlimited play, refreshments and other goodies.
