Cake and punch are nice, but if you really want to give your child a birthday celebration to remember, you need to be a little more creative. If you live in Indianapolis, you have a wide variety of activities to choose from to match your child's interests, from water parks to arcades. Kids of all ages can find something to enjoy at one of the indoor centers or parks that host birthday parties.

Water Fun

Kids can enjoy water fun all year round in Indianapolis at one of the indoor water parks or swim centers. The Caribbean Cove features 50,000 square feet of pools, slides, splash zones and other rides. Birthday parties are available Thursday through Sunday and include snacks, drinks, and access to the park. The Indy Island Aquatic Center features an indoor facility that is open all year long. The center includes heated pools, a water playhouse, water slides, splash zones, and pools with zero-depth entry. Birthday parties are available, but you have to provide your own cake.

Educational Activities

Learning can be fun, too. At the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, kids can explore a variety of interactive exhibits such as a forensics unit, dinosaur land, and Egyptian society. Birthday parties include admission to the museum and access to a themed party room. You also get party supplies like plates and napkins and a gift from the Museum Store. For the little musicians in your life, The Music Playhouse provides a space in which they can explore a variety of instruments and how instruments make music. Birthday parties include 45 minutes of class time that includes child and parent activities and festive music selections. Classes and parties are available for children 6 and under.

Sports and Recreation

Active kids have a number of options for celebrating their birthdays. At the Roller Cave Family Fun Center, kids can enjoy open skate times and festive music that will make them want to get moving. Party packages include admission and skate rental for guests, a birthday cake, pizza, drinks, snacks, party invitations and favors. The guest of honor also gets a balloon bouquet, birthday shirt, birthday button, and a picture with mascot Roller-Roo. At Rascal's Fun Zone in Whiteland, about 20 miles outside of Indianapolis, kids can ride indoor go-karts, play mini bowling, or play games in the arcade. There are plenty of outdoor activities at the center, as well, including mini golf, go-karts and blaster boats. Two- and three-hour party packages are available and these include game tokens, prize tickets, pizza, party supplies, invitations and more.

Indianapolis has numerous game centers that host birthday parties. Chuck E. Cheese's has a huge arcade area that includes skee ball, basketball hoops, air hockey and classic arcade games. A "live" show by an animatronic band provides a festive atmosphere. Birthday parties include reserved table space, game tokens, prize tickets, refreshments, favors, a shout out from the band and much, much more, depending on which party package you choose. At Laser Flash, kids can face off in laser tag at the 7,800 square foot, multi-level arena. You can customize party packages to your needs, and these packages can include laser tag, video games, pizza and soda. You can even schedule an overnight lock-in.
