Indoor Miniature Golf in Rochester, New York

by Melissa Blevins

With Rochester, New York, being the state's third-largest city, there is no shortage of fun family activities in which to engage. Miniature golf is one such game, and families, no matter where in Rochester they live, can always find an outlet suited to them based on either geographical proximity, theme or weather suitability.

Glowgolf

Located southwest of the intersection of Route 104 and Interstate 390, Glowgolf is situated at The Mall at Greece Ridge and offers families a chance to play glow-in-the-dark miniature golf. The facility is open seven days a week when school is in session, opening from 12 to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Birthday party packages and group passes are available.

Adventure Landing

The three 18-hole miniature golf courses at Adventure Landing are priced a little differently than other places, as they offer season passes which are valid for one year from when they're stamped, as well as tickets for one, two, three or 10 games. Adventure Landing also offers one free pass for your birthday, and anyone of any age can take part. Adventure Landing also has a school program in which they partner up with Greece- and Rochester-area schools to offer students incentives, rewards, fundraising opportunities and education-based class outings.

Parkside Whispering Pines

Found in the Rochester suburb of Irondequoit, Parkside Whispering Pines is known for its historic appeal as it was built in 1930 when miniature golf's popularity first began to rise. Parkside Whispering Pines is also on the National Register of Historic Places due to its being the oldest miniature golf course in America. Because the golf course's 18 holes are outside, its hours of operation are seasonal, and it is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the spring and summer.

The Clubhouse Fun Center

There are two 18-hole miniature golf courses at The Clubhouse Fun Center, where decorations like a giraffe on a bridge and a castle in the distance surround the greens. Games can be purchased in either one, two or 10 games, or as part of a combo pack that includes go-kart rides and arcade tokens. The Clubhouse Fun Center also features a section on its website where participants can view weekly specials, monthly specials and coupons.
