Calcium buildup can make otherwise healthy hair look limp and drab. Calcium hydroxide is frequently used in chemical relaxers for treating and relaxing curly or unmanageable hair. This chemical can not only cause buildup, but it might also cause skin irritation and other side effects. You can purchase a chemical clarifying solution from your local salon, or you can try making your own home remedy for buildup.

Mix one part apple cider vinegar with four parts water into a large glass.

Mix the solution thoroughly with a spoon and add in the olive oil. Mix again.

Lean your head over your bathroom sink. Wearing latex gloves, gently work the solution into your hair, ensuring you do not get it in your eyes.

Rinse your hair thoroughly.

Apply a leave-in conditioner to avoid further drying of your hair by the apple cider vinegar.
