How to Defuzz a New Fleece Jacket

Fleece is a durable fabric that keeps you warm in the winter, but it also tends to develop unsightly fuzz. Fuzz forms on fleece when small fibers ball up on the surface. If you have a new fleece jacket that’s covered in fuzz, don’t hurry back to the store for a refund. It's not all that difficult to make it look new again.

Run a lint roller over the fleece to remove as much fuzz as possible. Or wrap masking tape around your hand with the sticky side facing outward and pat the fuzz from the fleece jacket.

Slide a disposable razor over the jacket to remove any remaining fuzz. Move the razor slowly over the material and wipe the fuzz from the blade with a towel as it comes off the jacket. Avoid pressing too hard with the razor or you risk tearing the fabric.

Shake out the jacket and repeat the process, if necessary, until all of the fuzz is gone from the fleece.
