If you have ground meat, such as hamburger, turkey or sausage on hand, you can prepare a fast and satisfying casserole meal. Meat casserole meals can save you time and money as they typically yield easy-to-reheat leftovers. The next time your supermarket has a sale on ground meat, stock up and store it in the freezer for convenient one-dish meals.

Taco Casserole

If you're looking for a fast meal that pleases your family, you can't go wrong with a taco casserole. Kids love the cheesy goodness, while you'll revel in how easy the dish is to make. Brown lean, ground beef with taco seasoning and layer it in a casserole dish with refried beans, shredded cheese, salsa and tortilla chips. Top the baked casserole with fresh chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce and sour cream. Add extra flavor by stirring a packet of dry spicy dressing and seasoning mix into the meat or the sour cream.

Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Give your kids the fuel they need to get through a busy morning with a homemade breakfast sausage casserole. For convenience, bake a large casserole so you can enjoy leftovers for a few days. One way to make the casserole is by layering browned, ground breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, shredded hash browns and cheese in a casserole dish. Bake the casserole until it is golden and the cheese is bubbling. A surprise drizzle of creamy dressing will give leftovers fresh appeal.

Ground Turkey Casserole

Make ground turkey casserole using low-fat dairy products to create a satisfying, reduced-calorie meal. Saute ground turkey, chopped green pepper and onions in a skillet. Combine a hot pasta with low-fat, plain yogurt, shredded cheese and cottage cheese. Layer the meat and pasta mixture in a casserole dish and complete the meal with a crisp green salad tossed with creamy dressing.

Hamburger Casserole

Cheesy hamburger and potato casserole is a classic dish that's sure to please even the pickiest eaters in your household. Brown ground beef and layer it in a casserole dish with sliced potatoes, cream of mushroom soup and chopped onion mixture. Top the casserole with shredded cheese and bake it until it is bubbly. Round out the meal with sliced cucumbers and tomatoes topped with your favorite creamy dressing.
