Follow the example of Italian women, who have taken advantage of olive oil's moisturizing effects for hundreds of years, benefiting from its ability to remedy dry, lackluster, and drab hair. Though it doesn't boast any magical powers, olive oil has the magnificent ability to nourish hair while also boosting shine.
An itchy scalp is common during cold months, when the harsh, cold air outdoors and heated air indoors take a toll on your skin. For a nourishing anti-itch mask, simply mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Coconut oil may need to be microwaved for a few seconds before applying because it comes in a solid form. Leave the mask in your hair for 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how dry your hair is. Rinse with cool water and follow with a shampoo.

Avocado is a delicious moisturizing treat for hair, with its high content of fatty acids. Hair that regularly takes the heat from blow dryers and other heat styling tools will especially appreciate this mask, which puts nutrition and moisture back into the hair. Combine 2 teaspoons of olive oil with half of a ripened avocado. Mash or mix the two together with a blender until a creamy consistency is formed. Apply to dry hair and allow it to stay in your hair for approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how dry your hair is.
Take your hair care pampering routine to the next level with a concoction featuring ingredients that will nourish and strengthen your hair. Combine 1 egg for protein, 1 banana for moisture and smoothing benefits, 2 tablespoons of honey for its humectant properties, which will draw moisture to your strands, and half an avocado for added nourishment and moisture. Also add 3 tablespoons of buttermilk for smoothing and protein, and of course three tablespoons of olive oil for moisture and shine. Mix together and apply to your hair for 20 minutes before rinsing and shampooing.
