What Is a Good Way to Get Your Teeth White Really Fast?

by Christi Aldridge

When you meet someone new, one of the first things you notice is the person's smile. Along with the smile, you notice the teeth. White teeth are paramount to having an attractive smile, but going to the dentist for professional whitening treatments is expensive and can be inconvenient. Make changes to your mouth at home in your spare time with some quick tips for whitening your teeth.

White Strips

Whitening strips work quickly to create a whiter, brighter smile. These easy-to-use strips can provide results after only a few days, and your teeth become even whiter if you use them regularly. Dark stains may take a while for noticeable results, but if you simply want to brighten up your beautiful smile, white strips are more affordable than the dentist's office and don't take long to use. Several well-known brands make whitening strips.

Use Peroxide

Peroxide is a natural way to whiten your teeth. Dip a toothbrush or a cloth into peroxide and use it to exfoliate stains from your teeth. Peroxide is one of the main ingredients in most at-home tooth whiteners and paste, so using it straight is an effective way to get white teeth. It's also safe to use for everyone and has no lasting effects that are negative. The longer the peroxide stays on your teeth, the better. After a few uses, you'll see teeth a shade or two lighter than before.

Lip Looks

Use an optical illusion to make your teeth look whiter on the fly. Grab a tube of red lip gloss or lipstick and swipe it on. The red against your teeth makes your teeth look brighter and creates an instantly whiter smile. Make sure the red you choose is a bright, traditional, classic shade with blue undertones. Red lipstick looks great on everyone, adds instant glamor and creates a dazzling smile.

Baking Soda

Brush your teeth with baking soda, which is a natural scrub for teeth. Use a soft toothbrush and brush your teeth with the baking soda with circular, slow movements. The best way to use baking soda is by using it once a week combined with a whitening toothpaste the rest of the week to achieve results quickly.

Long-Term Brightening

Think about the big picture when it comes to your teeth. After you eat, brush your teeth or chew sugarless gum to remove food particles so teeth don't stain. Brush after you drink coffee or red wine, or eat fruit that stains your teeth such as blueberries. If you can't brush, chew an apple, some celery or carrot sticks to keep your pearly whites pretty. Check with your doctor before you take a new medication to see if tooth discoloration is a side effect.
