Whether you are a friend of the bride or groom, you have been given the honor of creating the couple's wedding slideshow to be shown at their reception. Sharing the story of a couple's romance is a good way to start off a memorable reception, according to Wedding Channel's article, "Reception Slideshow Ideas." A central part of creating the slideshow will be to use snippets of background music. Signify the couple's relationship up until now with songs that will tell their love story through lyrics to reception guests.

Childhood Memories

Include pictures of the bride and groom as youngsters in the first few slides to capture the innocence of the couple as babies and children with their parents and siblings. Songs that use 'girl' or 'boy' in the lyrics can be ideal choices. Consider the songs, "Girls Just to Have Fun," by Cyndi Lauper, "I'm Just a Girl" by No Doubt or "My Girl," by the Temptations, for the bride's pictures as a young girl. The songs, "Beautiful Boy," by Celine Dion, "Let's Hear It for the Boy," by Denise Williams or "Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allen, will work for pictures of the groom as a little boy.

The Time Before We

The marrying couple were once enjoying the single lives before they even met. Include photos of the bride and groom as college kids and young adults. "Single Ladies," by Beyonce or "Independent Woman," by Destiny's Child, can be used as an anthem for the bride's photos as a bachelorette. Use "Single," by New Kids on the Block, or "It's My Life," by Bon Jovi, as the song for the groom's photos as a bachelor. Additionally, use friendship songs as background music for pictures taken of the former bachelor or bachelorette with friends. Consider "Umbrella," by Rihanna or "Lean on Me," by the Glee Cast.

Budding Romance

The early stages of the couple's relationship was a precious time in their lives. Include pictures from the bride and groom's first date, first kiss and other special beginning moments. Consider the songs, "When Love Takes Over," by David Guerra and Kelly Rowland, "Happy" by Ashanti or "Crazy For This Girl," by Evan & Jaron, to capture the way the couple may have felt when the relationship was new. The classic tunes, "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You," by Frankie Valli or "Something," by The Beatles, can let guests know there was just something special about that certain someone when they were newly dating.

Together Forever

The last few slides can showcase pictures of the excitement the couple felt when they were newly engaged. Select songs about getting married. Consider the songs "Let's Get Married," by Jagged Edge, "Going to the Chapel," by the Dixie Cups, or "Marry You," by Bruno Mars, for background music. Also, include close up pictures of the elated bride showing off her engagement ring. Choose between "Diamonds," by Rihanna, "Diamonds and Pearls," by Prince or "Diamond Ring," by Bon Jovi, as the appropriate song.
