Schools in the Northeast
The University of Pennsylvania ranked third in the 2013 “U.S. News & World Report” survey of grad schools for women's health. UPenn's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers an in-depth four-year residency program, and students receive training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania during their Ob/Gyn rotation and sub-specialty electives. Located in Maryland, Johns Hopkins Medical School ranked fourth among women's health graduate programs according to the “U.S. News” survey. The Gynecology and Obstetrics residency program at Johns Hopkins engages students in extensive training in general gynecology and obstetrics and provides students with exposure to gynecological oncology, reproductive endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine and urogynecology sub-specialties. Johns Hopkins Ob/Gyn residents complete rotations at Johns Hopkins Hospital, John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Schools on the West Coast
According to the 2013 “U.S. News & World Report” ranking, the University of California in San Francisco is the number two school for graduate studies in women's health. Students in the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program at UCSF receive training at a number of sites, including the UCSF Medical Center, the UCSF Women's Health Center, the University of California's Parnassus Campus and San Francisco General Hospital. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California in Los Angeles is ranked number 10 on the “U.S. News & World Report” list. UCLA's gynecology and obstetrics residents receive diversified clinical training in all general specialty areas and practical settings and benefit from exposure to sub-specialty areas including maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and fertility, family planning and gynecologic oncology.
Schools in the Midwest
The University of Michigan ranks number seven among top graduate schools with women's health programs on the “U.S. News & World Report” list. Obstetrics and gynecology residents at the University of Michigan rotate through a vast number of Ob/Gyn related sub-specialties, including minimally invasive surgery, benign gynecology and obstetrics and gynecologic oncology. The program offered by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University in Illinois is ranked eleventh on the “U.S. News & World Report” survey. Residents at Northwestern receive clinical training at the Prentice Women's Hospital at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the John. H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in Cook County.
Schools in the Southeast
Duke University in North Carolina ranked eighth on the “U.S. News & World Report” list of top graduate programs for women's health. Duke University's Medical Center offers a gynecology and obstetrics residency program that provides instruction and training on essential components in obstetrics and gynecology, advanced obstetrics management and techniques, non-surgical and surgical gynecologic treatment of female reproductive tract disorders and other techniques and procedures related to the field.
