The towns of LaVergne and Smyrna, Tennessee, are 20 miles south of downtown Nashville, which gives teens the opportunity for some big-city entertainment. As a part of the greater metro area of Music City, many live-music options exist along with an array of other attractions. Teens will find plenty of good times amid the rolling green hills and big city life of middle Tennessee.
Smyrna Bowling Center claims it's the largest and most modern bowling venue in the state. It has 52 lanes, two large arcade rooms with dance and other active games, the Spare Time Cafe and youth bowling programs for middle school and high school students. Eleven miles from Smyrna in Murfreesboro, teens can find Go USA Fun Park. It features a quarter-mile go-kart track, mini golf, batting cages, a driving range, an arcade room and plenty of snack foods. Another option in Murfreesboro is Lanes Trains and Automobiles. It has a 2,500-square-foot laser tag arena, cosmic bowling events, bumper cars, billiards and a video arcade.
You can usually find teens hanging out at the pool or water park. Thirteen miles from LaVergne in Nashville is a large water park called Nashville Shores. It has eight water slides ranging from twisting and turning tunnels to sheer drop-off speed rides. For a more leisurely time, it has a beach area, wave pool and a lazy river. The Sports Com in Murfreesboro, 13 miles from Smyrna, is an option for year-round water thrills. The indoor pool has lanes for swimming and a diving board. The outdoor area is a water park with three water slides, a diving pool, sand volleyball courts and a leisure pool.
The city of LaVergne is home to the Poole Knobs Recreation Area. It is a lakeside natural preserve with all kinds of adventurous things for the teens. It is on the shores of Percy Priest Lake providing motor boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming opportunities. It has several campsites, hiking trails and wildlife viewing spaces, too. Hurricane Creek Recreation Area, also in LaVergne, provides mountain biking trails, fishing, horseback riding, camping, birdwatching, off-road vehicle trails, kayaking areas and nature trails.
Live Music and Entertainment
At Gregory Mill Park in Smyrna, teens will be able to attend the regular live musical performances. Many country music and classic rock artists take the stage in the outdoor venue. The Grand Ole Opry is 22 miles from LaVergne in Nashville. This famous music venue features world-renowned country music stars both modern and legendary. Backstage tours during the day and after the shows are available as well. For live stage plays, the Springhouse Theatre Company in Smyrna features a variety of shows that would appeal to teens. It also provides drama camps and open auditions for those who would be interested in learning the dramatic arts.
