by Amy Sutton

With its mountains, pine forests and arid deserts, the state of Utah's diverse landscapes draw in visitors. The state also has more than 2.8 million residents, according to the 2012 estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau. Whether you are one of those residents, or are planning a Utah getaway, you'll find all sorts of fun places to stay with your children around the state.

Hotels

If you're looking for a hotel for your family to stay during your visit to Utah, consider The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. The Families First program at the hotel ensures that younger guests have an enjoyable visit, with children's amenities such as strollers and kid-sized robes, and both an indoor and outdoor pool. In Park City, your family can stay at the Marriott Park City to enjoy amenities such as an indoor pool, whirlpool and a breakfast buffet. This hotel is situated in the heart of Park City.

Resorts

If your family is looking for a kid-friendly resort in Utah, check out Montage Deer Valley in Park City. Here, you can enjoy an array of family-friendly activities like scavenger hunts, crafts, games and nature hikes. During the winter, you can enjoy skiing and sledding and in the summer, canoeing, swimming and fishing. In Provo, your family can stay at the Provo Beach Resort where the little ones can play in Toddler Town, while the older kids and adults can enjoy other activities like riding the indoor Flowrider, playing carnival games and navigating the Utah Ropes Course.

Campgrounds

Does your family enjoying camping? If so, there are some great places you can camp in Utah. At Green River State Park in Green River, your family can pitch a tent or park your RV and participate in activities like boating, rafting, swimming, hiking, biking and golf. In Sevier, your family can go camping at Fremont Indian State Park and Museum. You'll find tent campsites, as well as park trails and a museum that holds artifacts, including pottery, arrowheads and baskets from the Fremont Indian Village.

Lodging near Family Attractions

There are a wide variety of attractions for your family to enjoy across the state, including Timpanogos Cave in northern Utah. When visiting, your family can camp at the nearby Little Mill Campground inside the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. In Lehi, you can visit the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point and stay at the Best Western Plus Timpanogos Inn, where your family can enjoy amenities like an indoor pool and hot tub. Or, you could visit the biggest water park in Utah, Seven Peaks. This Provo water park is less than three miles from the La Quinta Inn Provo Town Center, a family-friendly hotel with free breakfast and an outdoor swimming pool.
