While there are many amenities located in the surrounding area, there are plenty of fun date options available in the town itself. Whether you enjoy the outdoors or local art at its finest, Laurel has fun and exciting options for you and your date.

Local Arts and Cuisine

The Dutch Country Farmers Market is home to more than local produce, meat and dairy products. It is a small mall filled with quaint gifts, fine confections and host to numerous events throughout the year. Located on the eastern side of town on Fort Meade Road, the market is ideal for brunch and a mid-afternoon stroll with your date.

Nature and the Outdoors

There are numerous outdoor venues in Laurel. The area is home to more than 19 parks covering 222 acres of land. Whether you want to have a romantic picnic at Centennial Park or rent a paddle boat for an afternoon on the lake at Granville Gude Park and Lakehouse, there are countless adventures for you and your date to explore.

A Date on Ice

The Gardens Ice House makes it possible for you to enjoy the thrill and romance of ice skating, even during the blistering heat of summer. The ice house is available for public use throughout the year and skating lessons are available if either you or your date need to refresh your skating skills. This massive complex also hosts professional hockey games, ice skating shows and other sporting events throughout the year.

An Afternoon at the Track

Whether you are a novice to horse racing or a veteran at the track, Laurel Park offers horse races and simulcast racing from across the country. Make reservations at the Terrace Dining room to enjoy a romantic meal, then place bets on your favorite horses. Laurel Park offers a guide for novices visiting the track for the first time.

Explore Main Street

Laurel’s Main Street is home to numerous shops, restaurants and bars where you can grab a meal, listen to live music or embrace the charm of Laurel's historic downtown area. Main Street also hosts several festivals and public activities throughout the year, including the Main Street Festival, Riverfest and Main Street Trick or Treat. During these events, Main Street is closed to vehicular traffic, enabling you and your date to stroll the streets while you enjoy local food, art and live music.
