DIY Edible Mustache Cupcake Topper

by Jamie Shields

Everyone loves a good mustache, especially when it’s on a cupcake. Black licorice laces can easily be made into edible mustache cupcake toppers. The perfect treat for the mustache-clad husbands, dads, grandpas, brothers and other fine fellas in your life. Not everyone can grow a 'stache, but now everyone can make one.

You can either use a boxed cupcake mix for this decorating project, or go one step further and make homemade cupcakes! This recipe is really the only one you need.

Items you will need

  • Black licorice laces
  • Meringue powder
  • Water
  • Food brush
  • Scissors
  • Toothpicks

Cut 6-8 pieces of licorice laces about 4” long.

Line up laces closely next to each other. In a small bowl, combine equal parts meringue powder and water. Paint mixture onto licorice laces, pressing them together to stick. Let dry.

Carefully cut out mustache shapes. Get creative! You know what they say, no two mustaches are exactly alike!

Stick a toothpick into the bottom of completed mustaches. Top cupcakes and enjoy!
