Child Activities in Yorba Linda, CA

Yorba Linda, situated in Southern California, is 13 miles from Santa Ana and 40 miles from downtown Los Angeles. In 2005, CNN Money listed Yorba Linda as one of the best places in the U.S. to live. Residents and visitors to this city will find lots of entertaining activities to keep kids happy and busy.

Kids Sports

You can get your children involved in some of the sporting activities that are available in Yorba Linda such as baseball or softball at Baseball Softball World. Kids can get hitting, fielding and pitching lessons or participate in one of the clinics offered. The city of Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department offers an assortment of children's sports, including dodge ball, futsal, volleyball and swimming. In addition, the Yorba Linda/Placentia Family YMCA offers sports such as preschool sports, swimming and judo.

Children's Classes and Programs

Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department also has a large number of children's classes and programs available, including art classes, dance classes, performing arts, summer camps and preschool classes. The city library offers programs such as a summer reading program, Lego Mania!, Toddler Time, story times, Bubble-ology, kids crafts and Family Funtime. At Momentum Dance Center, kids can participate in dance classes such as ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap and mixed classes.

Parks and Trails

You can take your children for a hike on some of the trails that wind through Yorba Linda, including the trails at Chino Hills State Park. Or, you could visit some of the city parks. Fairmont Knolls Park feature open play space and tennis courts. Kingsbriar Park has a large playground and Box Canyon Park, which was rebuilt in 2010, is accessible for all children and has a pirate ship play area for 2- to 5-year-olds and a gigantic castle play space for children ages 6 to 12.

Family Fun

You can enjoy some family fun time at the Yorba Linda ice rink. If you drop by during one of the public skating times, you and your children can ice skate. You could also sign your kids up for skating lessons or the youth hockey league. At Scooters Jungle, your family can bounce and play on the gigantic inflatables, zip down the slides, play games and fly across the zip line. Stop by during open play time or plan to attend Toddler Play Time for kids ages 6 and younger or one of the Family Fun Events.
