What Can I Wear With Some Mid-Calf Boots With Heels?

by Stacey Kole, studioD

Mid-calf boots have a reputation for cutting off the leg line, but there’s no need to keep your distance. Simply choose a pair with a mid to high heel, and wear your boots with a few strategic wardrobe items to keep the appearance flattering. You’ll find everything from jeans to dresses can meet their perfect match with a stylish pair of mid-calf boots.

Days of Denim

Heeled mid-calf boots can both dress up and dress down a great pair of jeans. Go glam with dark-wash skinny jeans tucked into black, leather mid-calf boots with a stiletto heel. Team with a leopard-print blouse and a black blazer, and add metallic accessories for a party or dinner date. For a casual vibe, switch out skinnies for bootcut jeans and let your denim hang over a pair of light brown cowboy boots so that only the chunky heel and tip show at the bottom. Tuck in a white or plaid button-down, or mix things up with a floral, empire-cut tank top for a cute summer look.

The Feminine Side

Skirts and dresses are obvious pairings with mid-calf boots, but the length of the hem is of particular consequence. In order to keep the leg line long enough to be flattering, showing the knee is a must. Pick a yellow fit-and-flare skirt with a pretty spring print that hits a few inches above the knee, and top with a chambray button-down shirt. Tie the shirt or tuck it in, and complete the look with brown, lace-up mid-calf boots with a high chunky heel. For an easy-dressing alternative, opt for a cream-lace A-line dress and slip into slouchy, mid-calf, western boots in distressed leather. Finish with an armful of colorful braided bracelets for a country-chic vibe.

Comfortable Glam

Leggings are a cute and cozy wardrobe staple and are particularly stylish when teamed with mid-calf heeled boots. Wear thick, black leggings with a white scoop-neck tee and a camel-colored boyfriend cardigan. Loop a crimson scarf around your neck for a pop of color and complete the look with cognac heeled boots with a medium-sized chunky heel. For a more dressed-up take, rock an ivory-satin sack dress with espresso leggings and high-heel, mid-calf boots in a similar hue; the tonal color palette elongates the leg for a streamlined appearance.

Chic and Short

Slip on some tights and heeled mid-calf boots, and show off your gams in either a pair of mid-thigh shorts or a fitted miniskirt. Wear an oatmeal knit sweater with olive tweed shorts, and add black tights and charcoal slouchy boots to make a fall-friendly ensemble. Or, play with proportions with a cobalt miniskirt, a white tee and a boyfriend blazer. Add sheer, black tights and black, heeled, mid-calf boots – this pairing lets you rock the look of a short skirt with boots without feeling overdone. Roll up your sleeves and show off a chunky, menswear-inspired watch and silver hoops for a sleek finish.
