How to Call International Numbers

by Alan Temple

In order to place an international telephone call, you require several pieces of information. You will need the local number, the country calling code and the city calling code. Without all of this information, it is not possible to make the call, but once these factors are known, it will be as simple as any domestic phone call.

Visit a site which lists all the calling codes for foreign countries such as Country Calling Codes.com. Select the country you are calling from and the country you wish to call from the drop-down menu and click "Submit."

Dial "011" to begin making an international call. You follow this with the country and city calling codes.

Dial the International calling code. For example you would dial "971" if you wished to call the United Arab Emirates (UAE.)

Dial the city code. Continuing to use UAE as an example, you would use "2" to access Abu Dhabi. At this stage you have dialed 011 971 2.

Follow this with the local phone number. This method of 011 + country code + city code + local number allows you to phone a foreign country successfully.
