B.S. Degree in Business Satellite Programs in Western North Carolina

The Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina are heartbreakingly beautiful, but if you’re working full-time, raising children or can’t easily leave your town, obtaining the higher education degree you want can be tough. Fortunately, several area colleges offer programs at satellite locations to make your life easier. Here’s a list.

Appalachian State University

According to higher education ranking authority “U.S. News & World Report,” Appalachian State University is one of the top 10 regional universities in the South. Nestled in the ethereal Blue Ridge Mountains in the town of Boone, the university also has a satellite campuses in Hickory, Burke County, Caldwell County, Surry County and Wilkes County. Students who complete an associate degree in business at a nearby community college can complete their bachelor of science degree at one of these satellite centers or online, depending on the semester. This bachelor of science in business administration is a general management degree.

Mars Hill University

Mars Hill is another southern regional university located in Mars Hill, north of Asheville. The school offers a BS in business management at satellite campuses in Asheville, Hendersonville and Burnsville. The satellite BS aims to help adult workers to become more effective in their professional roles by teaching principles of entrepreneurship and system analysis. Graduates will become more adept at identifying and adapting to emerging trends in their personal lives, places of employment and in the larger marketplace.

Montreat College

If it’s important to you to have an education with a Christian focus, Montreat College is a Christian college located near Black Mountain, east of Asheville. Montreat offers courses toward a business administration bachelor’s degree at satellite centers in Asheville and Charlotte. The business degree at Montreat is heavily steeped in the teachings of Jesus, and students can choose a concentration in business ethics, international business, economics, leadership and human resources or managerial communications. Faculty members are local business leaders and entrepreneurs, and classes are small.

Gardner-Web University

Gardner-Webb University is another Christian school located in Boiling Springs, near the border with South Carolina. Students interested in pursuing a B.S. in business can enter Gardner-Webb’s GOAL program, which stands for “Greater Opportunities for Adult Learners.” GOAL business classes are offered at satellite campuses in Statesville, Charlotte and Winston-Salem. Students can choose to concentrate in accounting, business administration, computer information systems, economics, finance, international business, or marketing. Gardner-Webb prides itself on small classes and high standards of excellence.
