Few things delight a child more than a birthday celebration in his honor. As a result, many parents put a lot of effort into making their child’s special day as exciting and memorable as possible. Why not make things easier on yourself this year by enlisting help from a local business that offers birthday party packages? Whether your child is artistic, inquisitive or enjoys physical activities, there are numerous birthday party options to consider in and around Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Bowling Centers

Midway Bowling Center parties include shoe rental, two hours of bowling and tableware. Small shoe sizes, lightweight balls and bowling aids -- such as bumpers and ramps -- are provided for younger guests. You can add orders of pizza and soda to your party, and you can purchase a keepsake bowling pin for the guest of honor. In Harrisburg, 23 miles from Carlisle is ABC Lanes East where you can arrange two-hour birthday parties that accommodate at least eight guests. Bowling parties at ABC Lanes include shoe rental, bumpers, a beverage and a hot dog or pizza for each child, four game-room tokens per child and a special bowling pin for the guest of honor.

Craft Stores

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store’s “Make It a Party” program provides customized craft-centered birthday parties for children of all ages. These two-hour long parties take place in a private area and include invitations, an instructed craft activity and a treat-decorating session. Setup, cleanup and supplies are included. You must supply the treat to be decorated and all other party supplies, such as tableware, a cake, snacks, beverages and goody bags. Michaels also offers craft birthday parties that allow guests to create a special party project. Parties require a minimum of five guests and include invitations (which you can download and print at home), thank-you cards, tags for goody bags, party setup and cleanup, project assistance and a special apron for the guest of honor. Party games are available for downloading and printing at home. You are responsible for providing tableware, food, beverages, decorations and goody bags.

The Explore and More Hands-on Children’s Museum is located approximately 31 miles from Carlisle in Gettysburg. This unique museum houses fun and engaging educational activities that are perfect for children between the ages of 3 and 8. Birthday parties at Explore and More include two hours of museum exploration for eight children and four adults, beverages, tableware and a special banner for the birthday child. You are welcome to bring your own cake and have the option to purchase add-ons, such as pizza and goodie bags. Also in Harrisburg is The Doll House Museum where birthday parties are offered for boys and girls. The vast collection of dolls and toys includes antiques dating back to 1840, Disney characters, action figure dolls, fashion dolls and matchbox cars, as well as dolls from around the world. Parties at this unique museum include a guided tour, celebration time in the ice cream parlor, party favors (such as hats and horns), cake and ice cream, pretzels and popcorn, beverages, games, prizes and take-home goody bags. Parties are available from May through December.

Roller Skating Rinks

Midway Skating Center hosts birthday parties for six to 24 people. A party includes skate rental, use of the private party room, and a beverage for each guest and a free roller skating coupon for the guest of honor that he can use toward admission on a future visit. Sports Emporium offers roller-skating birthday parties for groups of all sizes. Rent the party room by the hour and choose from various add-ons, such as arcade credits, pizza, fresh veggies and soda.
