Birthday Party Ideas for a 5 Year Old in the St. Louis Area

by Amy Sutton

St. Louis, Missouri, the famed Gateway to the West, is situated along the Mississippi River. Many families who call St. Louis home find themselves looking for a fun place to hold their children's birthday parties. Moms looking for venues available to host her 5-year old's birthday party are in luck, since there are a number of places to choose from.

Saint Louis Zoo

Your 5-year old will be overjoyed with a birthday party at the Saint Louis Zoo (stlzoo.org). Moms who book a birthday party at the zoo can leave all the details to the staff of the zoo, allowing mom to relax and enjoy the party with her child. All parties at the zoo include a private party area, an animal exploration, drinks, cake, activities and a gift for the birthday child. You can even customize the party to suit your little one. Choose from "Party Like a Penguin," "Wildlife Wonder Party," "Super Safari Party" and "Dynamic Discovery Party."

Missouri Botanical Garden

Book a birthday party at Missouri Botanical Garden (missouribotanicalgarden.org) to celebrate in the Children's Garden. Your 5-year old and guests can climb, slide, jump and explore in this safe area, specially designed for children ages 3 to 12. Moms will enjoy the great outdoors and learn about the wonders of plants with their children. Every birthday party includes two hours of play time, a T-shirt for the birthday child and a personalized party banner.

Vetta Sports

A mom with a sports-loving 5-year old can book her child's birthday party at Vetta Sports (vettasports.com). At each of the five Vetta Sports locations in the St. Louis area, party goers can take part in activities like laser tag, swimming, jumping in bounce houses or playing bounce and soccer. Bounce and soccer takes place in a bounce house with a soccer field built inside. This is a perfect way for kids to burn off some of that stored-up energy. Moms can call one of the Vetta Sports locations or fill out an online party request form to book their child's party.

The Magic House

All kids will love a visit to The Magic House (magichouse.org). So why not book your 5-year old's birthday party at this fun children's museum? You just bring the birthday child and guests and the Magic House handles the rest for you. Birthday parties include a one-hour party and unlimited time in the museum. Choose from themes such as a fairy tale party, science magic and a construction zone party. Drinks are provided and each guest gets a cupcake to decorate. After the party, moms can take the guests through the museum to enjoy all of the fun exhibits and activities.
