Activities for Kids in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

by K. Nola Mokeyane

Rancho Cucamonga is a quaint city with a little over 165,000 residents in San Bernadino County, California. This charming locale is diverse in both its cultural makeup as well as its attractions and activities for the little ones. Whether you'd like to engage your tot in an outdoor adventure or immerse him in indoor, recreational activity that will likely influence "lights out" early in the evening, Rancho Cucamonga has you and your family covered.

Indoor Play

Whether your child is active or not, indoor play activities can make him a happy little tot. Lots of play for your little one also means that he should sleep like a log at night, giving you some quality relaxation time. Check out My Gym Kids (www.mygym.com) for Parent's Night Out or a couple hours of tumble time for your little one to enjoy. Jumping Jacks (www.jumpingjacksparty.com) has huge inflatables that will give your tot a little pep in his step. Victoria Gardens (www.victoriagardensie.com), a popular destination in Rancho Cucamonga, has an indoor carousel and the Choo-Choo Monga Express Train attraction that your child can enjoy while you do a little shopping in this megaplex.

Parks and Recreation

You and your tot can always spend a day in one of Rancho Cucamonga's beautiful area parks for hiking, a nice picnic and social hour on the playground. Central Park (www.cityofrc.us) has a play equipment area specially catered to children ages 2 to 5. Etiwanda Community and Creek Park (www.cityofrc.us) has a playground as well as a fenced-in dog park for your little one to enjoy, provided she's into dogs. Heritage Community Park and Equestrian Center (www.cityofrc.us) has horses nearby that give your child exposure to these majestic animals.

Classes and Lessons

Engage your child in a fun class or lesson that will, at minimum, enhance his gross and motor skill development. The Art Pod Studio (www.artpodstudio.com) has "drop-in and create" art classes for children ages 3 years and older. Keep your daughter on her toes with ballerina or hip-hop classes from the Elevate Dance Studio (www.elevatedance.co). If you think your little one could benefit from learning a bit of discipline or lots of self-confidence, then the Li'l Ninja program at the Performance Martial Arts Center (www.ranchocucamongamartialarts.com) may be just the kick that your tot needs.

Educational Activities

Treat your child to a trip to the Paul A. Biane Library at Victoria Gardens (www.vgculturalcenter.com) for an afternoon of wonder and adventure enacted by her favorite storybook characters. Barnes and Noble on Foothill Blvd. (www.barnesandnoble.com) is also a great place for your child to hear the most recent developments on her beloved literary friends during storytime, and if you like, you can make her day by signing her up for the kids club where she'll receive special treats for her birthday. The Archibald (www.cityofrc.us) and Biane libraries both offer animated children's storytelling time that are popular amongst toddlers and preschoolers, and help develop fundamental language and reading skills.
