Bed Head Shampoo Ingredients

Bed Head, by TIGI, is a line of hair care products. Consisting of 11 shampoos and various conditioners and styling products, the products contain a vast array of ingredients that vary by item. Detergents

The most commonly used detergent in Bed Head shampoos is cocamidopropyl betaine. It is used in all three Urban Antidote shampoos, Some Like it Hot, Brunette Goddess, Foxy Curls and Self Absorbed. Some Like it Hot and Foxy Curls also contain disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, while Control Freak and Dumb Blonde use sodium lauroyl sarcosinate. Some Like it Hot, Brunette Goddess and Foxy Curls contain lauryl glucoside, while Brunette Goddess and Dumb Blonde both contain the chemical detergent sodium cocoyl isethionate. Dumb Blonde is the only Bed Head shampoo to list sodium lauryl sulfate. Dumb Blonde also lists cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, as does Control Freak. Brunette Goddess is the only shampoo to use the ingredients ammonium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate and decyl glucoside. Bed Head's Superstar shampoo contains the detergents Sodium c14-18 olefin sulfonate, isopropylamine dodecylbenzenesulfonate, PEG-150 distearate and PPG-2 hydroxyethyl cocamide. Sodium laureth sulfate is listed in both Control Freak and Self Absorbed Bed Head shampoos, whereas sodium cocoylisethionate is contained only in Self Absorbed.

Moisturizers

Guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride is listed in Urban Antidote–Recovery, Brunette Goddess, Dumb Blonde and Self Absorbed as a moisturizing ingredient. Glycerin is listed in Some Like it Hot, Dumb Blonde, Foxy Curls, Self Absorbed and Moisture Maniac. Propylene glycol is a moisturizer found in Some Like it Hot, Superstar, Dumb Blonde, Control Freak and Foxy Curls. Some Like it Hot and Superstar both list hydrolyzed vegetable protein PG-propyl silantriol among their moisturizers, while Some Like it Hot and Foxy Curls both use the synthetic acrylates/vinyl neodecanoate crosspolymer as a moisturizing ingredient and hair protectant. Moisture Maniac lists behentrimonium methylsulfate. acetamide MEA, PPG 2 myristyl ether propionate and pentaerythrityl tetracaprylate/tetracaprate. Dumb Blonde counts cocoamidopropylamine oxide, sodium PCA, Quaternium-26 and amodimethicon among it's moisturizers while Brunette Goddess uses sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, polysilicone-15 and linoleic acid. Both Brunette Goddess and Foxy Curls use the moisturizer PEG-8 dimethicone. Foxy Curls counts on disodium cocamphodiacetate for moisturizing aid, while Control Freak uses PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides. Phytantriol is listed as a moisturizer for Self Absorbed and amidimethicone is listed in Urban Antidotes Resurrection. Some Like it Hot counts PPG-3 benzyl ether mystriate, divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer and polyimide-1 among its moisturizing ingredients, while Superstar uses hydrolyzed keratin, lecithin, caprylic/capric triglyceride and butylene glycol for moisture.

Natural Ingredients

Some Like It Hot by Bed Head contains aloe barbadnensis extract, grape seed oil, avocado oil, cucumber fruit extract, sunflower seed oil, oat amino acids and vitamin E. Sunflower seed oil is also found in Superstar, which also lists vitamin B5, hydrolyzed wheat protein and jojoba seed oil among its natural ingredients. Sunflower seed extract is used in Brunette Goddess, which also makes use of oat amino acids, vitamin E, vitamin A and vitamin C. Dumb Blonde counts vitamin B5, hydrolyzed soy protein and hydrolyzed wheat protein among its natural ingredients. Foxy Curls makes use of vitamin B5, as does Self Absorbed, which also contains vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin D3, vitamin B2 and corn oil. Control freak lists hydrolyzed soy protein and Moisture Maniac uses silk amino acids as a natural ingredient.

Emulsifiers

Glycol distearate is an emulsifier used in Urban Antidotes Re-Energize and Recovery, as well as Bed Head's Brunette Goddess, Dumb Blonde, Some Like it Hot and Foxy Curls. Urban Antidotes Re-Energize and Recovery both list carbomer, and Re-Energize makes use of polyethylene to keep liquids and oils from separating. Superstar uses glycol stearate for this purpose, as does Self Absorbed. Cocamide MEA stabilizes chemicals in Some Like it Hot, Brunette Goddess, Self Absorbed and Foxy Curls. Lauramide DEA is used in Bed Head's Superstar, while cocamide DEA can be found in Brunette Goddess and Control Freak. PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate is an emulsifier in Some Like it Hot, Brunette Goddess and Foxy Curls, while only Some Like it Hot and Foxy Curls use C12-13 pareth-23 and C12-13 pareth-3. Dumb Blonde utilizes C12-C16 Pareth-9, C11-C15 Pareth-7 and Trideceth-12 as emollients. Superstar lists PEG-12 Oleate. Brunette Goddess counts disteareth-75 IPDI and PEG-8 Ricinoleate among it's emulsifiers. Acrylates/C10-C30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, triethanolamine and PEG-150 pentaerythrityl tetrastearate are found in Control Freak. Moisture Maniac makes use of cetearyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol.

Preservatives

Methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone are similar ingredients with antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal preservative properties. These chemicals are found in Some Like it Hot, Suerstar, Brunette Goddess, Dumb Blonde, Control Freak, Foxy Curls and Self Absorbed. Methylparaben, a preservative, is used in Dumb Blonde, Control Freak, Foxy Curls and Moisture Maniac. Moisture Maniac also uses propylparaben and DMDM hydrantoin and centrimonium. Centrimonium can also be found in Urban Antidote-Resurrection. Brunette Goddess uses benzyl alcohol. Some Like it Hot, Brunette Goddess, Foxy Curls and Moisture Maniac all make use of tetrasodium EDTA, a chelating agent and preservative.
